Allison Goldfarb of Geranium and Jackson MacIntosh from TOPS and Drugdealer are set to release their first album, titled Paycheque, this Friday. Leading up to the release, two singles, “Generic Actress” and “Temporary Love,” have already been shared with fans. Today, the duo from Los Angeles is offering one final sneak peek with the track “Heatwave.”

According to the band, the creation of “Heatwave” had an interesting origin story. Before the production of the album Paycheque began, Jackson gifted Allison a TR-505 drum machine for her birthday. This drum machine played a significant role in the early stages of the recording process, being featured in all their songs initially. However, as the album progressed, it was eventually replaced on every track except for “Heatwave.” The band describes this particular song as a critique of the smooth talkers and deceptive charm associated with certain individuals. They also boast about the guitar solo on the track, emphasizing that it was flawlessly recorded in a single take. The band drew inspiration for “Heatwave” from icons of the ’80s such as Saada Bonaire and Gina X Performance, citing their tough and edgy aesthetic as influences.

The visuals for “Heatwave” are accompanied by a music video directed by Ian F. Svenonius. This visual component adds another layer to the song, enhancing the overall listening experience for fans eagerly anticipating the album’s release.

Paycheque is set to drop on 6/12 on Mansions And Millions, marking a significant moment in Goldfarb and MacIntosh’s musical careers. The album promises to offer a unique blend of sounds and influences, showcasing the duo’s talent and creativity in an exciting new project. Fans of Geranium, TOPS, and Drugdealer are sure to be thrilled by the release of Paycheque, eagerly anticipating the full album after being treated to the teasers of “Generic Actress,” “Temporary Love,” and now “Heatwave.”

As the countdown to the album release continues, excitement and anticipation are building among fans of the duo. Paycheque promises to be a captivating and memorable debut album that will introduce Allison Goldfarb and Jackson MacIntosh as a formidable musical force to be reckoned with in the industry. Be sure to mark your calendars for the release of Paycheque on 6/12 and immerse yourself in the sonic world crafted by this talented duo.
