New video reveals ending song and debut date for Thunder 3 TV anime on July 8
The official website for the Thunder 3 manga’s television adaptation unveiled a new promotional video on Wednesday, along with the announcement of its premiere date set for July 8. The video offers a glimpse of the show and introduces the ending theme song, “Shururerira,” sung by -otoha-.
The anime is scheduled to air on the +Ultra programming block on Fuji TV and various other channels on July 8 at 24:45 JST, technically beginning on July 9 at 12:45 a.m. JST. Additionally, the anime will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix worldwide starting on July 8.
The series will feature a talented cast, including Sayumi Suzushiro as PyontarÅ, Natsumi Kawaida as Tsubame, Eri Akiyama as Hiroshi, and Honoka Mitsubachi as Futaba. Interestingly, the anime’s website showcases the staff with unconventional position titles such as Hiroyuki for “Saku” (work), Hiroshi for “Bun” (text), and Naoyuki for “E” (art).
Kodansha USA, the English publisher of the series, provides a brief synopsis of the story: Three ordinary schoolboys stumble upon a DVD that purportedly opens a doorway to a parallel universe. When PyontarÅ’s younger sister, Futaba, inadvertently crosses over and is abducted by the invading aliens in that alternate Earth, the boys realize their cartoonish bodies grant them superhuman abilities in the hyper-realistic parallel world. Determined to rescue Futaba, they embark on a perilous mission.
The Thunder 3 manga, penned by Yuki Ikeda, debuted in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine in May 2022. After reaching its climax in January 2025, the series went on a brief hiatus in March of the same year due to Ikeda’s health concerns. Thankfully, the manga resumed serialization in February and concluded on June 5. The ninth compiled volume is slated for release on July 16, with the eighth volume hitting stores on February 10.
