Interview with Des Rocs – Punktastic
Des Rocs, also known as Danny Rocco, embodies a deep sense of focus that cannot be ignored. Hailing from New York, this talented artist is ready to drop his third album, ‘To Hell And Back’, but instead of taking a break, he is already brainstorming new ideas for his next project. Early mornings in the studio are nothing new for him. “I was in the studio at 8:30 this morning. I very much am an early riser. I always have been extremely driven to fulfil the rock-and-roll vision that I’ve been chasing since I was a little kid,” he shares straightforwardly.
For Des Rocs, music has always been a calling. The fusion of rock-and-roll runs in his blood, shaping his destiny as a musician. “There was no decision. It was just like the way a bird knows to fly in a certain direction. It was like a magnetic drive that I had from a very, very young age, from first or second grade. I always wanted to make rock-and-roll and be in rock-and-roll. I went on a journey of playing in many different bands and types of bands, and had lots of different experiences before really doubling down on the things I loved the most.”
While many music enthusiasts might have witnessed Des Rocs share the stage with legends such as The Rolling Stones or Muse, others might have encountered his work on a more personal level, such as his collaboration with Borderlands 4. The popular videogame included his track ‘This Land’ as its main theme, exposing his music to a broader audience outside the usual rock music scene. Des Rocs described the process as seamless, emphasizing the importance of artistic collaboration beyond traditional rock platforms.
‘The Juice,’ released months ago, acts as a precursor to his upcoming album. This single signifies a rejuvenation of classic rock vibes, drawing inspiration from Led Zeppelin’s iconic sound. Des Rocs speaks candidly about his music, emphasizing authenticity and progress in his creative journey. His commitment to reinventing and exploring new territories of rock music shines brightly in ‘To Hell And Back’. The album showcases a range of emotions and musical styles, from the tender ‘The More She Wants’ to the high-energy ‘The Riders Of Red Hook (Legends Never Die)’.
As Des Rocs unveils his latest sonic creations, he intertwines complex narratives and diverse influences to captivate his audience. “I would live and die for every single note and lyric on this album. I put a tremendous amount of myself into it,” he expresses passionately. True to his artistry, Des Rocs remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of rock music, striving for personal growth and artistic excellence in every melody and verse.
After wrapping up a successful tour in the USA, Des Rocs looks to the future with excitement. “Touring always takes a tremendous amount out of you. I think I aged six years in six weeks, but we live for our show,” he acknowledges. Eager to expand his horizons, Des Rocs dreams of captivating audiences in Asia and South America, eager to experience new cultural nuances and musical landscapes. With an unwavering commitment to his craft, Des Rocs promises an unparalleled sonic journey with each performance and album release.
