Sleeping With Sirens introduce new album with sold-out Raleigh show
Since the birth of post-hardcore and pop-punk genres from the punk scene in the 80s, the distinction between the two has become increasingly blurred, leaving fans in a perpetual debate about whether a band falls into one, the other, or a mix of both. One band that effortlessly straddles the line between these genres is Sleeping With Sirens, a group that has managed to keep their fans united in their appreciation for their unique sound.
Formed in 2009, Sleeping With Sirens burst onto the music scene with Kellin Quinn as their lead vocalist, releasing their debut album “With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear” in 2010. Their breakout track, “If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn,” quickly became a hit and has continued to be a favorite among their dedicated fanbase. With multiple successful albums under their belt, including their eighth studio album “An Ending In Itself” released just the day before their sold-out show at The Ritz in Raleigh, the band has solidified their presence in the punk and alternative music scene.
Unfortunately, due to illness, the scheduled opening act The Haunt had to cancel, and local DJ Phist stepped in to get the crowd warmed up with a set of emo and punk tracks, including previews of songs from the new Sleeping With Sirens album. Once the main act hit the stage, the energy in the room was palpable, with Kellin Quinn on vocals, Nick Martin on rhythm, Justin Hills on bass, Matty Best on drums, and Tony Pizzuti on lead guitar all bringing their A-game to the performance.
Kicking off their set with “Kick Me” from their album “Madness,” Sleeping With Sirens ignited the crowd of 1,300 fans, who were eager to soak in the live experience. The band’s stage presence was electrifying, with every member basking in the thrill of performing in front of such an enthusiastic audience. The mix of hardcore and punk elements in their music kept the crowd energized throughout the show, with fans jumping, moshing, and creating an atmosphere of pure excitement that reverberated through the venue.
As the band transitioned into the latter half of their performance, Kellin took a moment to express gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support over the years. With their latest album on the horizon, the band paid tribute to their past hits and the journey that led them to this pivotal moment. The crowd’s response was deafening as they sang along to familiar tunes, celebrating the band’s evolution and growth throughout the years.
Overall, the sold-out show at The Ritz was a testament to Sleeping With Sirens’ lasting impact on the music scene and their ability to captivate audiences with their dynamic sound. From the high-energy performances to the heartfelt moments of connection with their fans, the night was a true celebration of music and community. With their new album released and a performance at Warped Tour on the horizon, Sleeping With Sirens continue to wow audiences with their genre-defying music and undeniable talent.
