RIBS, the Raleigh post-punk band, has just released a new track that showcases their unique blend of classic rock riffs and Mike Wallace’s spoken word delivery. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Hold Steady but with a harder, meaner edge, RIBS has built a solid reputation as a dynamic live act. The band’s debut album, Junk Dynasty Leaderboard, garnered critical acclaim last year, and they are set to release their second album, COLD RIBS, this summer through Three Lobed Records, a prominent indie label based in North Carolina.

Cory Rayborn of Three Lobed Records playfully described RIBS as a fusion of a Southern Mark E. Smith, full of energy from too much sweet tea, and a band with influences ranging from Fugazi to Protomartyr. The sticker on their new album even references the legendary Captain Beefheart, hinting at the diverse range of inspirations that shape RIBS’ sound.

The lead single from COLD RIBS, titled “Not A Boogie,” is a standout track that showcases the band’s musical prowess. With a guitar loop that cuts through the chaos, a punchy drumbeat, and a grooving bassline, the song is complemented by Wallace’s urgent and charismatic vocal delivery. “Not A Boogie” is a compelling preview of the band’s upcoming album and is sure to captivate listeners with its intensity and creativity.

The tracklist for COLD RIBS includes songs like “Decomp In The Field,” “High Fives Of The Four Horsemen,” and “Crashing Machine,” demonstrating the eclectic range of styles and themes that RIBS explores in their music. Scheduled for release on 21st August via Three Lobed Records, COLD RIBS is already generating buzz among fans and critics alike.

With their distinctive sound and energetic performances, RIBS continues to push boundaries and challenge conventions in the post-punk genre. Their upcoming album promises to be a thrilling listen for both dedicated fans and newcomers to the band’s music. Pre-orders for COLD RIBS are available now, offering listeners the opportunity to experience the raw and captivating sound of one of North Carolina’s most exciting musical exports.
