Brennan Wedl reveals album with new song “Pretty Little Fantasy”
Brennan Wedl recently made a significant announcement about her music career following her signing to ANTI- in March. A talented musician who was previously part of the jazz quartet Dazey & the Scouts, Wedl is now venturing into a solo career with much enthusiasm. The announcement highlights the release of her latest album, featuring the first single “Pretty Little Fantasy.” Wedl describes this track as an ode to the complexities of being in your twenties, emphasizing how embracing our fantasies can lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves. Accompanying the single is a self-directed video that adds a visually captivating element to the music.
The production of Brennan Wedl’s album was a collaborative effort, co-produced by Katie Crutchfield from Waxahatchee and Brad Cook from Bon Iver and Hurray for the Riff Raff. These talented individuals also contributed musically to the album, along with Lindsey Jordan from Snail Mail, Colin Croom, and Matt McCaughan. The team came together in Cook’s studio in Durham, North Carolina, where they recorded the tracks live as a band over the course of ten days. This process allowed them to blend elements of punk, grunge, and Americana, resulting in a unique sound that they describe as “grungetry.”
Following a successful series of sold-out performances alongside Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman earlier this spring, Wedl is gearing up for more live shows. She is scheduled to perform at Third Man Records’ Blue Room in Nashville as part of Americanafest before embarking on a tour with Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy along the US East Coast.
