Tribute to Miles Davis at Castelfranco Veneto Jazz Festival in Veneto
The Castelfranco Veneto Jazz Festival is renowned for its ability to not only showcase top talents in the Italian and international jazz scenes but also provide an educational experience for younger generations. The festival, scheduled for July 7 to 11, will offer a diverse lineup of events, many of which are free to attend. In addition to evening live performances, guest artists will engage in educational activities, including masterclasses primarily aimed at students from the “Agostino Steffani” Conservatoire of Music.
One highlight of the festival is the opening night featuring an all-star quartet comprising jazz luminaries like Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chris Potter, Larry Grenadier, and Eric Harland from across the Atlantic. Following this stellar performance, the lineup will showcase some of the best Italian jazz artists such as Fabrizio Bosso, Mauro Ottolini, Maria Pia De Vito, and Gianluca Carollo’s J&J Organ Trio with special guests.
A must-see event at the festival is La Notte Blu, taking place on July 9 and 10, wherein music enthusiasts can enjoy performances in various venues and throughout the historic center streets starting at 7 pm. Another highlight includes “Miles, The Last Concert” on July 7, commemorating the centenary of Miles Davis’s birth – a significant tribute to the jazz legend. Castelfranco Veneto holds special significance as the place where Miles Davis had his final concert in Italy and Europe before his passing and the event will feature a recounting of the memorable night in the summer of 1991 by Riccardo Brazzale and Giuseppe ‘Momo’ Mormile, the organizer.
Overall, the Castelfranco Veneto Jazz Festival promises five days filled with music, educational activities, jam sessions, and other supporting events. It is a unique opportunity for music enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the magic of jazz while also celebrating the legacy of one of the genre’s most influential figures. Don’t miss this chance to experience the full magic of music at this exciting festival.
