Dead Poet Society releases new single and video for “Roach”

Los Angeles-based rock band Dead Poet Society has recently unveiled their latest single, “Roach,” accompanied by a music video co-directed by their frontman, Jack Underkofler, and Mindreader. The band shared that the song delves into feelings of resentment and the enduring impact of being mistreated.

In their own words, Dead Poet Society explained, “‘Resent.’ That is what this song is about. It’s about those who have wronged you, taken advantage of you, hurt you. Let the feeling fester and consume you.” The music video further explores these themes, providing a dark and cinematic visual representation to complement the track.

The production credits for “Roach” include Paul Meany (known for Twenty One Pilots, Pierce the Veil) as the producer, Adam Hawkins (Turnstile, Yungblud) handling the mixing, and the recording taking place at Valley View Studios and The Park in Los Angeles. This release comes on the heels of their previous standalone single, “Sinner Systems,” which touched on the band’s observations of modern excess and emotional detachment.

Comprised of members Jack Underkofler (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jack Collins (guitar, backing vocals, drum programming, keyboards), Dylan Brenner (bass, additional guitars), and Will Goodroad (drums), Dead Poet Society has already delivered two full-length albums -!- (2021) and Fission (2024) to their fan base.
