Sadurn reveals details of second album ‘The Underworld’ and debuts emotional new song ‘whole thing’
Philadelphia band Sadurn has announced the upcoming release of their second album, “The Underworld,” set to drop on 16th October via Run For Cover Records. The lead single from the album, “whole thing,” is accompanied by a touching music video that offers a glimpse into the emotional journey of the band’s next chapter.
After four years since their debut album “Radiator,” Sadurn is back with “The Underworld,” showcasing an evolution of their indie folk, bedroom pop, and alt-country sound. The album features warm pedal steel tones, gentle rhythms, and rich vocal harmonies that build from soft reflections to a powerful conclusion in “whole thing.”
Lead songwriter and vocalist G DeGroot pours his heart into the album, sharing personal lyrics that narrate a period of heartbreak, health struggles, and the pressure to follow up their successful debut. Instead of replicating the previous album’s success, “The Underworld” captures the journey of recovery, both physically and emotionally, in a raw and authentic manner.
DeGroot delves into the album’s title, explaining that “The Underworld” represents challenging times and the process of emerging stronger. He shares, “You go into the underworld to find clarity about yourself and return transformed. Healing involves confronting darkness to find your inner strength and overcome obstacles.”
Following the release of “Radiator,” Sadurn faced heightened expectations while also dealing with personal struggles, including the end of a relationship and health issues.
