The Strokes recently released a new video for their song “Going Shopping,” drawing inspiration from Paul Simon’s classic “You Can Call Me Al” music video. In this new video, the band enlisted actor Walton Goggins to play the lead role, reminiscent of Chevy Chase in the original. Goggins, who was in the Canary Islands filming a feature at the time, immediately embraced the idea and suggested they go shopping.

The band, led by Julian Casablancas, flew out to Tenerife, a Spanish island near Morocco, to meet Goggins and shoot the video with longtime collaborator Johann Rashid directing. The resulting video is a whimsical and eccentric piece that perfectly captures the essence of the song and the band’s creative vision.

“Going Shopping” serves as the lead single from The Strokes’ upcoming seventh album, “Reality Awaits,” which is set to be released on July 24 by RCA Records. The album will also feature another track, “Falling out of Love.” In addition to their new music, The Strokes are currently on a global headline tour, with a highly-anticipated hometown show at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in October. The band will be joined by Beach House, TV on the Radio, and Fcukers for this special performance.

Fans can now pre-order “Reality Awaits” and look forward to an exciting lineup of live shows as part of The Strokes’ 2026 world tour. The tour kicks off in North America this summer with sold-out shows in various cities, including Richmond, Cincinnati, and Milwaukee. Other notable tour dates include performances in San Francisco, Pasadena, and Vancouver. The band will also make stops in Japan, the UK, and Europe, with sold-out shows in London and a highly anticipated appearance at the Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta.

With their innovative music videos and electrifying live performances, The Strokes continue to captivate audiences worldwide. Their unique blend of indie rock and alternative sounds has solidified their status as one of the most influential bands of their generation. As they gear up for the release of “Reality Awaits” and a series of exciting tour dates, fans can expect nothing short of an unforgettable musical experience from The Strokes.
