Here at Tape Op, we have a deep-rooted appreciation for Pink Floyd, evident in our extensive interviews with various members of the band and those connected to them in the industry. We’ve had the pleasure of speaking with Nick Mason, John Wood, Bob Ezrin, Alan Parsons, John Leckie, Youth, Joe Boyd, and, of course, rock legend David Gilmour. Gilmour, known for his impeccable guitar playing, recently released “Luck and Strange,” an album filled with musical richness and standout moments featuring his daughter, Romany. The cover of The Montgolfier Brothers’ “Between Two Points” showcases their collaboration beautifully, highlighting Gilmour’s exceptional talent both vocally and instrumentally.

Two tracks that stand out on the album for me are the bonus song, “Yes, I Have Ghosts,” also featuring Romany, and the original 14-minute “barn jam” version of the title track, “Luck and Strange,” featuring former Pink Floyd bandmate Richard Wright on keys. The latter gives listeners a front-row seat to a mesmerizing blues jam, allowing room for Gilmour and Wright to showcase their musical prowess with a slow, deliberate build.

The album boasts a talented lineup of musicians, including Steve Gadd, Roger Eno, Guy Pratt, Gabriel Gilmour, Rob Gentry, Adam Betts, Tom Herbert, and Steve DiStanislao. Most of the lyrics on “Luck and Strange” were penned by Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson. The production of the album was a collaborative effort between Gilmour and Charlie Andrew, with engineering by Matt Glasbey and Damon Iddins, mixing by Matt Glasbey, Gilmour, and Charlie Andrew, and mastering by Dick Beetham.

In addition to Gilmour’s latest work, the article mentions British psychedelic rock band Temples and their compelling 2014 release, “Sun Structures,” which captivated audiences for months. It’s evident that the editorial team at Tape Op HQ has been immersed in the music scene, sharing insights into upcoming interviews and exciting new music from artists like Kenny Blume and Sadie Dupuis.

Furthermore, the publication hints at a forthcoming Tape Op book and T-shirt release, making the readers eager for more exclusive content from their favorite music outlet. With a diverse range of topics covered, including remastered releases from Grateful Dead and a comprehensive box set from Miles Davis, Tape Op continues to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of the latest music news and industry updates.
