Allah-Las set to release new album titled Sirenas
The upcoming release “Sirenas” on Mexican Summer in collaboration with Calico Discos marks the band’s first full-length album since 2023’s “Zuma 85.” “Pt. Conception” serves as a follow-up to the previously released “Ultramarine,” offering a glimpse into a series of tracks delving into the residual effects of sound on emotions and psyche.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Iasos and Brian Eno, the album, according to drummer Matt Correia, revolves around the concept of approaching creativity as a state of openness and receptivity. Correia further explains that the exploration of these internal spaces seamlessly intertwines with the exploration of various facets of the physical world, mentioning the influence of figures like Thor Heyerdahl and Jacques Cousteau.
A notable shift in the band’s approach to the recording process is evident in their decision to adopt a more relaxed and unstructured method, opting for jam sessions with the incorporation of new musical instruments and recording techniques. This deviation from their usual modus operandi, as articulated by singer and guitarist Miles Michaud, allowed for a serendipitous journey into unexplored musical territories that might have otherwise been overlooked.
The album promises a diverse sonic landscape, accentuated by an array of tracks that traverse different moods and textures. The tracklist for “Sirenas” includes titles such as “PasiphaĆ©,” “Snakes of Hydra,” “Vini da Gama,” “Abre Caminos,” “Muzzy,” “Ultramarine,” “Caldera II,” “Sirenas,” and “Thrill of the Bill,” each contributing to the overall tapestry of the album.
While the specific details and nuances of the album’s sound and thematic elements remain shrouded in mystery until its official release, the tidbits revealed so far offer a glimpse into a musical odyssey that celebrates the boundless nature of creativity and artistic expression. With “Sirenas,” the band invites listeners to embark on a transformative journey through the ethereal landscapes of sound, promising an immersive experience that transcends the confines of traditional musical boundaries.
