Billy Morrison and Dexter Holland from The Offspring Release New Single ‘Never Gonna Change’
Billy Morrison and Dexter Holland from The Offspring have collaborated on a new single titled “Never Gonna Change,” which was released with an animated lyric video directed by Mike Savage on July 2. This single is a precursor to Morrison’s upcoming album, HOLLOW, scheduled for release on August 7 through TLG | ZOID and distributed by Virgin Music Group.
Morrison shared writing credits with Los Angeles-based songwriter Jacob Bunton for the song. Morrison described “Never Gonna Change” as a timeless pop punk anthem of rebellion that resonates with teenagers across generations, capturing feelings of being misunderstood. The track features Dexter Holland, who contributed his vocals while on tour with The Offspring, with the final mix handled by Barry Pointer.
Holland expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Morrison, citing the song as a perfect blend of angst, rebellion, and fun, making it an ideal summer hit. Before working together on this project, Morrison had previously released the single “Becoming” from HOLLOW in March, featuring Sully Erna from Godsmack and Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme, which achieved a Top 20 position on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart.
HOLLOW will comprise 12 songs, with half of them featuring Morrison as the lead vocalist and the other half showcasing various guest vocalists, including Chuck D, B Real, Duff McKagan, Steve Stevens, Marilyn Manson, and DMC. Morrison emphasized the importance of the visual component in the lyric video for “Never Gonna Change,” praising director Mike Savage for creating a narrative-driven video that complements the track.
