Stones’ Album Promotion Aims at New Generation of Roblox Fans and Creators
The Rolling Stones are gearing up to launch their 25th studio album, “Foreign Tongues,” by engaging creators and a younger audience through a unique Roblox game that celebrates the band’s extensive history in the world of rock and roll. Starting on July 10, players on the Roblox platform can immerse themselves in an interactive experience at “The Block,” Roblox’s official music and entertainment venue.
Within the game, participants will embark on a journey through the Rolling Stones’ impressive 60-year career, encountering rewards, abilities, and settings that encapsulate different musical eras of the band. Collaborating with over a dozen skilled creators from Roblox’s global community, the band has reimagined its iconic tongue-and-lips logo to reflect various decades authentically.
These custom logos will not only feature in the game but will also be available for purchase as physical and digital merchandise for players and their in-game avatars. Jessica Meehan, Roblox’s head of music partnership, highlights that the interactive gameplay and virtual concert experience aim to introduce the Rolling Stones’ enduring legacy to new generations of fans.
The Rolling Stones’ venture into the metaverse with Roblox is not their first foray into blending music and gaming. In 2024, the band took over Universal Music Group’s “Beat Galaxy” music hub, following in the footsteps of other artists like Cher, Lady Gaga, and Elton John in creating virtual gaming and concert experiences. The Block on Roblox has proven to be a popular destination for musicians looking to connect with the platform’s vast community of 380 million monthly active users, with a notable majority being under 18 years old.
With over 43 million visits, The Block has hosted virtual concerts and engaging events with artists such as Billie Eilish, Laufey, and Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters. By leveraging Roblox’s immersive environment and engaged audience, the Rolling Stones are embracing new and innovative ways to reach fans and create memorable experiences that bridge the gap between music, gaming, and entertainment.
