Glenn Hughes talks about his latest solo album, “Chosen,” and reveals his process

Feeling the need to deliver another album, Hughes considered it necessary to fulfill his commitment. Hughes mentioned his process of never repeating the same album twice, always striving for evolution and growth in his music. He started writing for “Chosen” in early 2020 and headed to the studio in Copenhagen later that year to record the tracks. The title track, which has already been released with a music video, stemmed from Hughes’ initial creative spark. “Chosen” symbolizes freedom and self-discovery in a chaotic world, with the term representing a sense of liberation to Hughes.
When asked about maintaining the quality of his voice over the years, especially hitting high notes with ease, Hughes credited his vocal regimen. He emphasized the importance of ample sleep and vocal warm-ups before performances. However, Hughes also highlighted a shift in his approach to singing, emphasizing the significance of being in the moment. Rather than worrying about hitting specific notes, Hughes now focuses on singing naturally and authentically during live shows, which he describes as a crucial element in his continued vocal success.
