From the moment the first guitar strums of “Breakdowns” hit your ears, you are immediately captivated. Paddy McKiernan’s vocals add an ethereal quality to the track, making it a must-listen for indie-rock lovers. The chorus is a perfect blend of catchy guitar riffs, seamless vocals, and unforgettable hooks, creating an ideal anthem for the upcoming fall season.

The inspiration behind “Breakdowns” is a familiar feeling for many. Whitehall shares that the track was born out of a particularly challenging day when they felt overwhelmed by a never-ending project. Writing the song served as a form of therapy for the band, allowing them to process their frustrations and ultimately move forward from that difficult period.

In their own words, Whitehall describes the emotional state that led to “Breakdowns”: “‘Breakdowns’ is what comes from hitting the proverbial wall—it’s the feeling at 10pm when you’re grinding on a project that seems to never end… This song came from a little humming after a long day like that when I was emotionally spent. Writing it out helped me to resolve my day, name that feeling fully, and ultimately move forward, knowing that I had closed the book on the feeling.”

“Breakdowns” is just one of the powerful tracks on National Finals Rodeo. The album is hailed as Whitehall’s most emotionally charged record to date, featuring vulnerable singles like “Malibu #2,” “Come Visit,” “Baby Steps,” and “Fires in Canada” among its 11 tracks. The band’s musical journey began in Charleston, SC, before they made their mark in Brooklyn, solidifying their position as emerging stars in the indie-rock scene. The lineup includes Paddy McKiernan (vocals, guitar), Avery Greeson (guitar), Brennan Clark (bass), and Davis Rowe (drums).

Having shared stages with prominent alternative acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Arlie, and Carver Commodore, Whitehall is a band to watch out for. If you’re in the NYC area, don’t miss their performance at Brooklyn’s Purgatory on September 20th at 7:00 p.m. To listen to their latest album and learn more about Whitehall, visit their website for additional details and updates.
