The Rolling Stones enter studio after winning GRAMMY for new album – 102.9 WMGK
The iconic rock band, The Rolling Stones, wasted no time after their GRAMMY win for Best Rock Album this past April and immediately headed to London’s Metropolis Studios to start working on new music. The band’s producer for the 2023 album, Hackney Diamonds, likened working with the band to working for Batman, highlighting their unique and efficient workflow. While he didn’t reveal much about the recording sessions, he did mention that they were indeed recording new material.
Marlon Richards, son of Keith Richards, shared some insights into the studio sessions in an interview with Record Collector magazine. He mentioned that the band was working in a location in Chiswick and working long hours from after lunch till the wee hours of the morning, demonstrating their tireless dedication to their craft. The success of their previous album, Hackney Diamonds, which topped charts in multiple countries and earned them their first GRAMMY win, seemed to have reignited the band’s creative spark.
The current lineup of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, along with drummer Steve Jordan who took over after Charlie Watts passed away in 2021, are back in the studio working on new music. Marlon Richards shared that the band’s GRAMMY win had energized them, motivating them to want to create another successful album. Plans for UK and European shows in 2025 had to be scrapped due to scheduling conflicts, but the possibility remains for shows in 2026.
The Rolling Stones, despite their age with Mick Jagger at 82, Keith Richards at 81, and Ronnie Wood at 78, show no signs of slowing down. Their dedication to their music and their willingness to continue creating new material despite their already impressive legacy is a testament to their passion for the art form. With the fresh inspiration from their recent GRAMMY win, fans can expect another iconic album from one of the greatest rock bands of all time in the near future.
