NOVEMBER 2025: A Month Filled with Noise

The November episode of THE NOISE OF always feels a little odd, as it typically marks the final installment of the year, with December’s episode hitting in early January. With the music scene experiencing a slight slowdown, thanks to the hustle and bustle of compiling year-end lists, it’s still important to highlight the great music that continues to be released. Despite the ebb and flow of album drops, quality music persists month after month.
One such release is JOTA’s “Cold Haven,” out on November 3 via Tomb Tree Tapes. Hailing from my own local scene, I only stumbled upon their music recently, courtesy of Zegema Beach/Tomb Tree. JOTA’s music is a force to be reckoned with, delivering a powerful and engaging sound that immediately captivates listeners.
On November 5, Juana Molina unveiled “DOGA” on Sonamos/RGS, a follow-up to their acclaimed 2017 album, “Halo.” The new record continues to showcase Molina’s unique style, proving to be a captivating and rich musical journey that leaves a lasting impression.
Another standout release is lausse the cat’s “The Mocking Stars,” released independently on November 6. Known for their colorful and intricate album artwork, lausse the cat’s music is just as engaging, offering a listening experience filled with surprises and nuances that keep listeners on their toes.
SML’s “How You Been,” released on November 7 via International Anthem, brings a bold and exhilarating jazz sound. The quintet, led by bassist Anna Butterss, delivers a top-tier jazz experience that demands attention and praise.
Town Portal made waves on November 7 with “Grindwork,” released through Dream Bureau. The record showcases a heavier, post-rock-infused side of math rock, offering a refreshing take on the genre that reignites the love for math rock in listeners.
Brian House’s “Everyday Infrasound in an Uncertain World,” released independently on November 7, presents a mesmerizing sonic experience. The album, consisting of 24 hours of pitched and sped-up infrasound, is a wild yet captivating auditory journey.
“Feral” by Bore, released on November 7 via Silent Pendulum Records, delivers a relentless onslaught of heavy riffs and intense moments. The album serves as a powerful and invigorating experience for listeners seeking an adrenaline rush.
“Mercy” by Armand Hammer & The Alchemist, released on November 7 through Backwoodz Studioz, offers a masterful blend of intricate beats and captivating lyricism. The collaboration between Armand Hammer and The Alchemist results in a standout hip-hop release of the year.
On November 7, Earth Ball released “Outside Over There” on Upset The Rhythm, delivering an over-the-top noise improv experience that pushes the boundaries of sonic experimentation. The album, while intense, showcases a dedication to creating unique and immersive soundscapes.
Navy Blue’s “The Sword & The Soaring,” released on November 11 through freedom sounds, presents a calm and introspective rap experience. Navy Blue’s storytelling over Nujabes-inspired beats creates a soothing listening environment that resonates with warmth and authenticity.
VoidCeremony’s “Abditum,” released on November 14 via 20 Buck Spin, introduces listeners to an extreme metal masterpiece. The album blends elements of black, death, and doom metal seamlessly, offering a modern take on traditional metal genres.
Finally, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy’s “HEAVY,” released on November 14 through Learning Curve Records, showcases a band that has evolved and matured over the years. Their latest album retains their signature sound while offering a more nuanced and refined listening experience.
