Two new Gundam manga series set to launch in June 2026
Kadokawa, a Japanese publisher, has announced the launch of two new manga series set in the expansive Mobile Suit Gundam universe in June. The news was revealed in the July issue of Gundam Ace magazine, with one series being a regular manga and the other a four-panel comedy manga focusing on SD Gundam.
Initially airing in 1979, Mobile Suit Gundam revolutionized the mecha genre with its realistic military stories and intricate political narratives. Over the years, the franchise has evolved into a global sensation, spawning numerous anime series, movies, model kits, and video games.
Renowned illustrator Kōzō Ōmori is both writing and illustrating the first new series, titled “Shien wa Minovsky no Eikyō o Ukenai.” Ōmori is no stranger to the Gundam universe, having previously worked on the manga adaptation of the Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative anime project, which concluded in August 2025. His vast experience includes illustrating adaptations for Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Mobile Suit Gundam UC Bande Dessinée, among others.
The prologue chapter of “Shien wa Minovsky no Eikyō o Ukenai” will debut in the July 2026 issue of Gundam Ace, with the full serialization beginning in the September 2026 edition.
In addition to this, artist Kazuya Tani will launch a separate four-panel comedy manga called “SD Gundam G Generation Eternal 4-koma.” This series is based on the mobile strategy game SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, released in April 2025. Tani, known for his gourmet manga “Ral Meshi: Ramba Ral no Haitoku Gohan,” brings his creative talents to this project following the successful conclusion of his previous work.
The serialization of “SD Gundam G Generation Eternal 4-koma” will commence in the upcoming June 26 issue of Gundam Ace. The mobile game, which inspired this manga series, features chibi-style designs of mobile suits from various timelines, blending humor with the iconic Gundam universe.
In conclusion, the introduction of these two new Gundam manga series adds depth to the already expansive universe, promising exciting narratives and captivating illustrations for fans and enthusiasts. Whether delving into military-style drama or lighthearted comedy, these series are sure to captivate readers and offer new perspectives on the beloved Gundam franchise.
