The Halo Effect from Sweden recently released their latest single, a fierce rendition of W.A.S.P.’s classic 1984 song “I Wanna Be Somebody.” The guitar-driven track, expertly chosen by guitarist Jesper Strömblad, is the band’s third cover and underscores their ongoing exploration of the foundational sounds that have influenced their music. Accompanying the single is the announcement of their upcoming EP titled “We Are Shadows,” set to drop on November 21 in digital format and as a limited vinyl edition. This five-track compilation merges the band’s recent reinterpretations of metal classics, showcasing both respect for their inspirations and the group’s unique contemporary twist.

Jesper Strömblad shared his thoughts on the selection of the song, highlighting W.A.S.P.’s distinctively aggressive sound and extravagant stage presence. The EP includes songs such as “How The Gods Kill,” “If You Were Here,” “Dance With The Devil,” and “Shoreline,” in addition to the aforementioned cover of “I Wanna Be Somebody.”

To celebrate the EP’s release, The Halo Effect is preparing to embark on an extensive European tour in early 2026.
