Rock bands like AC/DC, Oasis, and Soundgarden set New Year’s resolutions in Rock Music Menu
Welcome to this year’s edition of Rock Music Menu’s guide to “New Year’s Resolutions for Rockers Who Need Them,” where we share some helpful suggestions for musicians who may need inspiration for the upcoming year. It’s not an easy task, but we’re happy to offer our assistance to these busy individuals.
Last year, we made a resolution suggestion for Ozzy Osbourne to put on one final show in his hometown of Birmingham, England. The recommendation included a Black Sabbath reunion, making for a memorable conclusion to his career. This became a reality with the Back to the Beginning concert last summer, where rock legends gathered to honor Ozzy. The lineup featured performances by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Pantera, followed by Osbourne’s solo set and a reunion with Black Sabbath. A powerful ending that was tragically followed by Ozzy’s passing.
As we enter the new year with this poignant backdrop, let’s offer some advice to a few iconic musicians who may be seeking direction in 2026.
Metallica, a band that has achieved immense success over their extensive career but has yet to play at Sphere, a state-of-the-art venue in Las Vegas. Lars Ulrich expressed interest in considering a performance at Sphere once their 2026 tour concludes. Metallica could make history as the first metal band to play at this innovative venue and continue their legacy by signing on for this groundbreaking opportunity.
Guns N’ Roses, who we recommended last year to release a new album, are still delaying fresh music while slowly releasing leftover tracks from “Chinese Democracy.” Despite this, fans patiently await new material that captures the spirit of the classic lineup. It’s time for Axl Rose and the band to expedite the release of all the “Chinese Democracy” material and focus on creating fresh, engaging music that resonates with their present selves.
Oasis, another band that recently reunited after over a decade, embarked on a successful “Live ’25” tour that demonstrated a deep connection between estranged brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher. The tour showcased their timeless hits like “Wonderwall” and “Live Forever” in a celebratory atmosphere that revealed a newfound camaraderie between the siblings. However, the tour was limited to five U.S. shows across three cities, leaving many fans yearning for more. With the undeniable chemistry between the Gallaghers, the band should consider expanding their tour to include more U.S. cities like Philadelphia to further engage their American fan base.
Moving into 2026, these musicians have the opportunity to make meaningful strides in their careers by heeding these resolutions. Whether it’s playing at innovative venues, releasing new music, or expanding their reach on tour, these artists have the potential to impact the music world in exciting ways this year.
