Extreme has kicked off the recording process for their seventh studio album on January 5th. This upcoming record will come as a follow-up to their previous album, “Six,” which was released in June 2023 under earMUSIC. As of now, specific details regarding the release date, tracklist, producer, and title of the new album have not been disclosed.

Nuno Bettencourt, the band’s guitarist, excitedly shared a glimpse into the recording studio by posting a photo on his Facebook page. Accompanying the image was a caption that read, “DAY 1 2026 EX7REME.” Additionally, the band has completed 12 visual interpretations of tracks from the upcoming album, with a music video released for one of the songs.

The band’s previous album, “Six,” made an impressive debut by reaching No. 10 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. Initial sales figures for the first week totaled 12,500 copies. This album marked Extreme’s return to the studio after a hiatus since 2008, and it produced three successful singles. Following the album’s release, the band embarked on a tour, visiting various countries such as the United States, Europe, India, Japan, and Australia.

In a notable career highlight, Nuno Bettencourt performed at Ozzy Osbourne’s Back To The Beginning farewell concert in 2024. This experience led him to earn the role of music director and guitarist at the 2025 MTV VMAs, where he shared the stage with other music legends like Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Yungblud.

When asked about the 15-year gap between albums, Nuno Bettencourt attributed it to creating an extensive amount of material. The band worked on multiple batches of songs before finalizing the tracklist for their upcoming album.

Looking ahead, Extreme is set to join DEF LEPPARD and MÖTLEY CRÜE as the opening act for their 2026 tours. The tour will commence on April 4 in São Paulo, Brazil, at Monsters Of Rock 2026 and conclude on September 26 in Ridgefield, Washington, at Cascades Amphitheater.

In conclusion, fans of Extreme can anticipate the band’s highly anticipated seventh studio album, which is currently in the works and is expected to add another chapter to the band’s successful music career. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
