Foreigner musical launches successful debut run
A new theatrical production is being prepared for its premiere in April, showcasing the music of legendary rock band Foreigner. The musical, entitled “Feels Like The First Time – The Foreigner Musical,” is scheduled to run from April 17 to 26 at the Little Theatre located on Long Island University’s Brookville campus. This collaboration between Foreigner, the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, and Long Island University’s Post Theatre Company promises to bring an exciting and engaging experience to audiences.
The musical will feature some of Foreigner’s most iconic hits, including “Cold As Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is,” providing a nostalgic journey through the band’s celebrated discography. The production is being helmed by Adam Pascal, well-known for his role in the musical Rent, as he serves as the inaugural Artist-in-Residence at LIU and takes on the directorial duties. Stephen Garvey is responsible for crafting the storyline, with choreography handled by Lorna Ventura, and David Abbinanti overseeing orchestrations and arrangements.
Set in 1985, the musical will follow the story of a suburban family who embarks on an extraordinary adventure after winning an MTV sweepstakes. Their grand prize includes a weekend visit from a popular rock star, culminating in a private concert in their backyard. Pascal expresses his enthusiasm for this project, citing it as a creative endeavor that embodies his passion for theater, combining great music, engaging storytelling, and collaborative efforts.
