AC/DC guitarist Stevie Young hospitalized before Buenos Aires shows
AC/DC’s iconic guitarist, Stevie Young, found himself in a hospital in Buenos Aires just ahead of the band’s upcoming concerts in the city as part of their “Power Up” world tour.
Young, who is the nephew of the late founder of AC/DC, Malcolm Young, was admitted to a local hospital after feeling unwell. His hospitalization was purely precautionary, and he is currently undergoing a series of tests to determine the cause of his condition.
Despite this health setback, a spokesperson assured fans that Stevie Young is in good spirits and looking forward to taking the stage as planned for the band’s scheduled concerts at Buenos Aires’ Monumental Stadium. These performances, set for March 23, 27, and 31, are sold out events, with the band quickly adding two additional shows due to high demand.
AC/DC, known for their electrifying performances, last graced the stages of Argentina in 2009, attracting a massive crowd of nearly 200,000 fans. After their time in Buenos Aires, the band will be heading to Mexico City for another round of shows in early April.
Stevie Young joined AC/DC as the guitarist in 2014, taking over for his uncle Malcolm who had to step down from the band due to health concerns. The current lineup of AC/DC includes Brian Johnson on vocals, Angus Young on guitar, Stevie Young on rhythm guitar, Matt Laug on drums, and Chris Chaney on bass.
The “Power Up” tour is a tribute to the late Malcolm Young, who founded AC/DC with his younger brother Angus in 1973. The band’s latest album, also titled “Power Up” released in 2020, is a homage to Malcolm who passed away in 2017 after battling dementia.
