Live music lineup this week features rock, jazz legends, and local favorites

In San Diego’s music scene this week, fans can look forward to a diverse lineup of performances ranging from nightmare rock to jazz legends. A blend of horror and social commentary awaits audiences at the upcoming A Nightmare on 80s Street show at The Holding Company on April 4. The band’s renditions of 1980s classics, coupled with their elaborate costumes inspired by horror film icons like Freddy Krueger and Jason, promise an entertaining experience. Film enthusiasts will appreciate the band’s incorporation of snippets from horror film soundtracks into their set.

Hawaiian artist Fia will kick off the Humphreys Concerts by the Bay season with back-to-back shows on April 4 and 5. Known for his reggae-influenced music and catchy tracks like “Love Me,” Fia’s performance by the water promises a serene evening for fans of island-inspired sounds.

At the Athenaeum’s Acoustic Evenings concert series, music enthusiasts can enjoy a diverse lineup of artists starting on April 3. With performances by Wax, Lisa Sanders and Brown Sugar, and Jimmy and Enrique, this event offers an eclectic mix of musical styles. Fans of offbeat humor can catch Reggie Watts at the Epstein Family Amphitheater on April 4. Known for his surreal comedy, improvisation, and musical talents, Watts promises a one-of-a-kind performance that appeals to fans of quirky and unpredictable humor.

Pianist Emmet Cohen will take to The JAI stage at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center for shows on April 6 and 7. Cohen’s celebration of the centennial birthdays of Miles Davis and John Coltrane promises a memorable showcase of classic jazz favorites reimagined for contemporary audiences.
