The Black Keys have unveiled their 14th studio album, Peaches!, on May 1, 2026, along with a fresh music video for the track She Does It Right, which serves as a nod to the band’s early musical influences.

Released through Easy Eye Sound and Warner Records, Peaches! showcases the duo’s return to their blues and R&B roots by covering songs from artists like R.L. Burnside, Arthur Crudup, and Wilko Johnson. The visual accompaniment for the song Stop Arguing Over Me presents a simple and intimate look at the band’s performance style, aligning with the theme of revisiting their musical origins.

This latest album marks a deliberate shift back to the raw and minimalistic style of The Black Keys’ debut album, The Big Come Up, highlighting a departure from their more commercially successful rock and pop sounds on albums like Brothers and El Camino. Peaches! emphasizes a stripped-down approach, focusing on live instrumentation and analog production to capture the authenticity of the music.

Songs like When There’s Smoke, There’s Fire and Fireman Ring The Bell highlight the album’s commitment to preserving the integrity of the original tracks while infusing them with the duo’s signature sound. The track You Got To Lose, initially popularized by Ike Turner and covered by George Thorogood and The Destroyers, showcases the album’s emphasis on groovy arrangements and unrefined vocals reminiscent of The Black Keys’ early days.

With full control over production and mixing, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney bring in additional musicians like Eric Deaton and Jimbo Mathus to enrich the album’s sonic landscape without straying from their core duo dynamic. The incorporation of horn arrangements by Dave Guy and Cochemea Gastelum adds a touch of Memphis soul to the mix, expanding the album’s stylistic range.

In terms of visual representation, the cover artwork for Peaches! designed by Michael Carney pays homage to the band’s history, tapping into the legacy of William Eggleston’s photography, previously featured on their album Delta Kream. As a companion piece to Delta Kream, Peaches! explores a broader spectrum of blues influences, incorporating elements from Chicago blues, British pub rock, and early rhythm and blues.

The release of Peaches! and the accompanying music video for Stop Arguing Over Me indicates a period of reflection for The Black Keys as they reconnect with their musical roots while maintaining a polished production style honed over the years. While the album serves as a tribute to their blues heritage, it also raises questions about the role of covers albums in an artist’s body of work, highlighting the band’s intentional artistic direction rather than a mere transitional release.

Overall, Peaches! stands as a testament to The Black Keys’ enduring commitment to their blues-rock origins while hinting at new musical directions that may come in the future. With its blend of homage and reinterpretation, the album positions the band as torchbearers of American blues traditions in a contemporary music landscape.
