Norwegian black metal band Mortem releases new album ‘Mørketid’ / Includes …

Norwegian cult black-metal band Mortem is back with their latest album, ‘Mørketid,’ which is set to be released on 3rd July via Peaceville. This album is a follow-up to their 2019 debut, ‘Ravnsart,’ and showcases a progression in their music. Featuring members from renowned bands like Arcturus, Thorns, Mayhem, and 1349, Mortem’s ‘Mørketid’ is a nod to darkness that combines slow, monumental riffs with bursts of fast-paced black metal.

With eight tracks of savage and eerie black metal, ‘Mørketid’ is a testament to the band’s evolution and creativity. The album includes the unmistakable keyboard textures of Sverd, Hellhammer’s powerful drumming, and the fierce vocals of Marius Vold. Tracks like ‘Mørketid,’ ‘The Mighty Odious,’ and ‘Skyggeånd’ showcase the band’s ability to create a dark and atmospheric sound that captivates listeners.

Originally formed in 1989, Mortem was one of the pioneering black metal bands to emerge from Norway. Their highly acclaimed ‘Slow Death’ demo, produced by Euronymous and featuring Dead of Mayhem, laid the foundation for their brutal and intense sound. After the release of ‘Slow Death,’ the band took a hiatus, with members going on to join other influential bands like Arcturus and Thorns.

In 2019, Mortem made a comeback with their studio debut, ‘Ravnsvart,’ which brought back the raw and aggressive style of their earlier music while introducing new elements. Following the success of ‘Ravnsvart,’ the band re-recorded and reworked tracks from ‘Slow Death,’ further solidifying their place in the black metal scene.

Recorded at Toproom Studio in Norway by Børge Finnstad and Kevin Kleiven, ‘Mørketid’ is a culmination of Mortem’s musical journey and growth.
