oughness to them, a material strength they maybe didn’t possess when we initially composed them after our second album, Colors for Chameleons. Our main goal from the outset was to achieve a more comprehensive, ambient drum sound on this third album. We brought the songs to Electrical Audio in Chicago, where we spent two days tracking 47 minutes of music before embarking on a series of mini-tours.
During this period, we grappled with various life events such as a marriage, health challenges, addiction, and divorce – monsters in their own right, both big and small, which is why the title Monsters resonated with us. Despite setbacks, we lost a year but eventually regrouped, forging a tighter focus on these six tracks. The initial inspirations remain intact, imbuing the music with their original power, but it feels transformed into something more robust and evolved, like a metamorphosis. There are peculiar sounds emanating from the AC generators that seem to be holding it all together. By the conclusion, normality is forsaken, and perhaps that’s for the best anyway.”
