Soul Asylum has exciting news for fans worldwide, as they gear up for a major tour that will span across North America, South America, and Europe. This highly anticipated tour promises to bring their renowned live performances to audiences around the globe. Mark your calendars, as tickets for these shows will be available starting on Friday, June 5th.

The big tour announcement comes alongside the upcoming release of MPLS Unplugged, a special live album celebrating the 30th anniversary of Soul Asylum’s unforgettable 1993 MTV Unplugged performance. This album will feature some of the band’s best tracks from that performance, allowing fans to relive the magic of that historic event.

But that’s not all – Soul Asylum has also shared “What Will Become of Me”, a track that has been a long-awaited recording for many devoted fans. This song, first performed live in 1995, has gained a loyal following over the years despite never receiving an official release. Now, after more than three decades, listeners will finally get the chance to hear this track in its full glory on MPLS Unplugged, set to drop on August 28, 2026, through Blue Élan Records.

The album was recorded at the iconic State Theatre in Minneapolis on April 20, 2023, almost exactly 30 years after the band’s original MTV Unplugged performance. The intimate setting of the venue perfectly captures Soul Asylum’s essence, showcasing the emotional depth and musical prowess that have defined their sound for over four decades.

Led by frontman Dave Pirner, the band delivers a stellar performance alongside guitarist Ryan Smith, bassist Jeremy Tapparo, and drummer Michael Bland. The lineup also features the return of keyboardist Ivan Neville, the STRINGenius String Quartet, and the Robert Robinson Gospel Singers. Neville’s reappearance creates a seamless connection between the band’s past and present, tying together the two eras of Soul Asylum’s illustrious career.

One of the highlights of MPLS Unplugged is “What Will Become of Me”, a track that has only existed in the band’s live shows since its debut in 1995. Alongside another fan favorite, “Farmer John”, this song had never been officially recorded or released prior to this album, offering fans a rare opportunity to experience a piece of Soul Asylum’s live legacy.

The release of MPLS Unplugged and the kickoff of the global tour showcase a band that continues to push boundaries while staying true to their roots. With over 40 years in the industry, Soul Asylum remains a powerhouse in the rock scene, captivating both long-time fans and new audiences with their timeless music and dynamic performances.
