Slow Pulp’s recent appearance on CBS’ Saturday Sessions and their cover of Lifehouse on SiriusXMU marked significant highlights for the band in 2023. Now, the Chicago-based group is thrilled to announce their upcoming album, Melodie, set to release this fall. The unveiling of the lead single, “Better Man,” offers a glimpse into their signature blend of catchy and emotionally-driven indie rock.

Guitarist Henry Stoehr delves into the inspiration behind “Better Man,” shedding light on his personal journey of relinquishing control of his life and prioritizing others’ expectations. He reflects on a tumultuous past, where chaos and lack of emotional control plagued his early years and early twenties. As he entered a more stable phase in his mid-twenties, he grappled with accepting and embracing his true self while seeking validation from those around him. The song encapsulates a pivotal moment of self-realization and acceptance, hoping for understanding and acceptance from others.

Melodie marks Slow Pulp’s first collaboration with producer Elliot Kozel, known for his work with artists like Rosalía and Yves Tumor. Unlike their previous albums, which Stoehr produced, this new record promises a fresh perspective and sonic evolution. Accompanying “Better Man” is a visually captivating music video directed by Ben Turok, capturing the anthemic essence of the track with vivid imagery and Emily Massey exuding a rock star aura.

The tracklist for Melodie unveils an enticing array of songs, including “Yellow And Green,” “These Days,” and the titular track “Melodie,” among others. With a diverse range of titles and sounds, the album promises a dynamic listening experience for fans eagerly awaiting its release.

In addition to the album announcement, Slow Pulp has also revealed a series of tour dates across various cities, including St. Louis, Omaha, Denver, and more. The band’s live performances are set to bring the energy and emotion of their music to audiences across the country, showcasing their talent and passion on stage.

Melodie is scheduled for release on 9/18 via ANTI-, with pre-orders available for fans eager to secure their copy. As Slow Pulp embarks on this new musical chapter, the anticipation and excitement surrounding their latest work continue to build, setting the stage for a memorable and impactful album release and tour. Fans of the band can look forward to immersing themselves in the raw, emotional, and captivating sounds of Slow Pulp’s Melodie.
