Jack White’s new album ‘Frozen Charlotte’ available for preorder before official announcement
Jack White surprised fans by quietly making his seventh solo album, “Frozen Charlotte,” available for preorder on Third Man Records’ website without any official announcement or press release. The album is set to be shipped on vinyl on July 10th and features thirteen tracks that were recorded at Third Man Studio in Nashville, with a lineup consisting of Patrick Keeler on drums, Dominic John Davis on bass, and Bobby Emmett on keys. Following a tour, the band immediately hit the studio to work on this project without taking a break.
The album description on the webstore highlights Jack White’s exceptional talent, backed by a phenomenal band that has just wrapped up a series of highly acclaimed performances. This latest release is a follow-up to his 2024 album, “No Name,” which was distributed in a unique manner by placing unmarked white-label copies in customers’ bags at Third Man Records stores in Detroit, London, and Nashville. A couple of singles, “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” and “Derecho Demonico,” were already released in April, and were performed during White’s appearance on “SNL” with host Jack Black.
The album cover features a sculpture created by Jack White himself as part of his first public visual art exhibit titled “These Thoughts May Disappear,” currently on display at Newport Street Gallery in London until September 13th. White explained on Instagram that a “frozen Charlotte” is a Victorian penny doll, known for its ability to float or wear a dress, with roots in an old folk song about a girl who froze to death due to insufficient winter clothing.
Despite the album’s availability for preorder, Jack White has not made any mention of it on his social media platforms, and his representative did not provide a comment when asked by Variety. Fans can choose between two vinyl versions on Third Man Records’ website, one featuring a blue swirl pattern and the other a creamy aesthetic. Additionally, White is set to embark on a European tour this month followed by North American dates starting in July, with a performance scheduled at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston on July 25th.
