Keith Urban is preparing for the release of a unique album titled ‘Flow State,’ which consists of yacht rock cover songs and is set to launch on June 12. Although the album will feature 10 familiar covers and one original track by Urban, it was initially intended to include 11 cover songs.

However, Urban shares that one track had to be removed from the album for surprising reasons. During an exclusive interview on Taste of Country Nights, Urban revealed that the omitted song was a duet for which he couldn’t find the right partner in time for the album’s release, leaving it on hold for a future project.

Urban’s unplanned inability to secure a duet partner might be attributed to the unforeseen circumstances he faced halfway through recording the yacht rock songs in his newly established Nashville studio. His High and Alive World Tour demanded his attention, interrupting the recording process.

Furthermore, the creation of ‘Flow State’ happened organically without extensive premeditation on Urban’s part. Initially, the yacht rock covers were recorded purely for enjoyment and to acquaint himself with his new studio. The concept of transforming these recordings into an album only materialized later on.

When questioned about the possibility of a ‘Flow State Part 2’ to include the omitted duet, Urban admitted that he never anticipated a sequel to the album, indicating uncertainty about future projects related to this release.

Keith Urban’s versatility and openness to experimentation have remained constant throughout his career, resulting in a diverse catalog of music. The ‘Flow State’ album showcases his willingness to push boundaries and explore new avenues while captivating listeners with his creative endeavors.

Reflecting on the playful and rewarding experience in the studio, Urban expressed his delight at witnessing the session players’ enthusiasm while recording the songs. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone fully immersed in the music-making process.

As Urban embarks on the launch of ‘Flow State,’ fans can anticipate a fresh perspective on familiar tracks and a glimpse into his musically adventurous spirit. With a mix of classic country singalongs, experimental ballads, and pop-infused dance tunes, Keith Urban continues to defy expectations and captivate audiences worldwide.
