Bonnaroo 2026 to feature Yungblud, Wet Leg, and Geese performing energetic Friday sets
The atmosphere at Bonnaroo 2026 on the second day was a vibrant one, as The Farm turned into a lively rock ‘n’ roll club filled with energy and excitement. The annual four-day music and arts festival commenced on June 11 in Manchester, Tennessee, with Skrillex headlining the all-night welcome party, followed by a two-hour blackout. However, Friday was a stark contrast, with a lineup dominated by rock, indie, and alternative acts.
A host of rising stars in the rock genre took to the stage, such as Wet Leg, Geese, Yungblud, and Wednesday. Additionally, seasoned artists like Blues Traveler, Jessie Murph, and GRiZ kept the energy high in anticipation of the evening’s headline act, The Strokes. Despite early rain showers that left The Farm covered in mud, festival-goers embraced the conditions and fully immersed themselves in the music and festivities.
Blues Traveler brought their unique blend of jam band energy, blues, and folk-pop to the stage in the early evening. As the sun reappeared after the morning rains, fans danced enthusiastically in the mud to the band’s improvisational and feel-good set.
Highlighted in their performance was a cover of Charlie Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” during which frontman John Popper delivered a fiery harmonica solo in place of the fiddle part. The band also put their own rootsy spin on Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” earning thunderous applause from the audience.
Reflecting on their previous appearances at Bonnaroo in 2003 and 2009, members of Blues Traveler recalled the intense energy of the crowds despite the sweltering temperatures. Guitarist Chan Kinchla fondly remembered the experience and expressed the band’s enthusiasm to return to the festival after more than a decade.
The Isle of Wight’s Wet Leg electrified the atmosphere with their post-punk sound, drawing a massive crowd at the Which Stage. Frontwoman Rhian Teasdale exuded confidence as she led the audience in a 30-second group scream and engaged in call-and-response interactions during their performance.
Since the release of their album “Moisturizer” in 2025, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. charts, Wet Leg’s popularity has skyrocketed in the U.S., evident in their enthusiastic reception at Bonnaroo.
British rocker Yungblud brought an intense energy to the festival, turning the Tennessee afternoon into a sweaty rock extravaganza. Clad in black leather pants and baring his chest, Yungblud drenched himself in water throughout the set, captivating the crowd with his dynamic performance.
His electrifying renditions of songs like “Hello Heaven, Hello,” “The Funeral,” and “Lovesick Lullaby” sent the audience into a frenzy, with fans reciprocating the energy with loud cheers and enthusiastic participation.
Brooklyn-based band Geese showcased their indie sound on stage, contributing to the diverse lineup of Friday acts at Bonnaroo. Their unique style and vibrant performance added to the rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere that enveloped The Farm throughout the day.
With each act delivering standout sets, Friday’s lineup set an exhilarating tone for the rest of the festival, building anticipation for the evening’s headline performances from GRiZ and The Strokes.
