Chubby Dog announces second album, Cancel Me (I’m Tired)
Fat Dog’s latest album, Cancel Me (I’m Tired), serves as a follow-up to their debut album WOOF released in 2024. The South London seven-piece band explores a mix of genres, including “electro-punk-art-pop-rock’n’roll-space-country” in the ten tracks that make up this new project.
The title track of the album, “Cancel Me (I’m Tired)”, draws inspiration from John Lennon’s “How Do You Sleep” and features singer Joe Love’s interpretation of how Anatolian psych-rock outfit Altın Gün would sound on a club floor. This single comes after the release of their previous track “Go Fuck Urself” in May.
Despite their busy touring schedule around the world, Fat Dog managed to come together in London to work on this album. Love describes how each member experienced some form of breakdown during the tour, which influenced the overall sound and energy of their music. While Cancel Me (I’m Tired) maintains a high-powered and restless sound, the lyrics delve into various themes such as addiction, love, family, and even aliens and H&M.
In the upcoming weeks, Fat Dog will hit the road once again to support Foo Fighters in EU dates. Following these shows, they are slated to perform at several music festivals before embarking on a UK headline tour in the autumn. Fans can catch them live in cities like London, Manchester, Bristol, and more.
The album artwork for Cancel Me (I’m Tired) sets the tone for the eclectic mix of tracks that lie within. From the catchy “Smile and Wave” to the gritty “Bad Dog” and the mysterious “The Devil”, the tracklist promises a diverse listening experience that touches on a range of emotions and musical styles.
Fat Dog’s Cancel Me (I’m Tired) is a testament to their creative growth and ability to blend various genres seamlessly. With electrifying performances and introspective lyrics, this album showcases the band’s evolution and solidifies their place in the contemporary music scene.
