Tzuyu from Twice covers Stefanie Sun’s First Day in Taiwan performance
On the night of July 3, Tzuyu, a member of the girl group Twice, took the stage in Taiwan to perform a cover of Stefanie Sun’s popular song, “First Day.” This performance marked Tzuyu’s debut as a solo artist in her hometown, and she was the final act of the evening at the Beer Rock Festival in Kaohsiung.
Despite feeling some nerves, Tzuyu expressed excitement and happiness at the opportunity to perform for her fans. Dressed in a white two-piece outfit, she delivered a one-hour set that included four songs and a dance number. Among the songs she performed were “Run Away” and “Fly” from her 2024 extended play album “Aboutzu,” as well as Twice’s “What Is Love?” To end her set, Tzuyu sang “First Day” and encouraged the audience to sing along before bidding them farewell with a heartfelt thank you and a promise to return.
Stefanie Sun’s “First Day” was originally released as part of her ninth album, “A Perfect Day,” in 2005. The song has since become a beloved classic in Mandarin-speaking communities. In addition to Tzuyu, other artists such as Mandopop band Mayday and singers Aska Yang, Angela Zhang, and Chen Linong have also covered this iconic track.
This was not Tzuyu’s first foray into covering Mandopop songs. In February 2024, she surprised fans with a cover of LaLa Hsu’s “I Dare You,” which she shared on her Instagram account. Tzuyu’s versatility as a performer was evident in her ability to tackle both pop and Mandopop genres with equal skill and enthusiasm.
Overall, Tzuyu’s performance at the Beer Rock Festival showcased her talent and versatility as an artist. Her ability to connect with the audience and deliver a memorable set of songs solidified her status as a rising star in the music industry. With her passion for performing and dedication to her craft, Tzuyu continues to captivate audiences around the world with her music and stage presence.
