Exumer unveils new album “Death Mask Messiah” video for title track
Exumer, the renowned German thrash metal band, has recently announced the release of their sixth studio album, “Death Mask Messiah,” set to debut on August 28th under Metal Blade Records. Having been absent from the studio for seven years, Exumer’s return promises a relentless attack of 11 new tracks that stay true to their aggressive thrash roots while presenting a more direct and forceful style. The production team behind “Death Mask Messiah” includes the notable Dominic Paraskevopoulos, known for his work with Kreator and Caliban, and the mixing and mastering efforts of Arthur Rizk, celebrated for his association with Soulfly and King Diamond.
Accompanying the announcement of the album is the premiere of its title track, “Death Mask Messiah,” along with a corresponding music video. Lead vocalist and co-founder Mem V. Stein describes the track as a portrayal of the album’s overarching vision and as a reflection of Exumer’s creative intentions. According to Stein, the single was intentionally selected as the album’s introductory representation due to its powerful main riff and lyrical content, embodying the essence of the band’s musical aspirations for this record.
The recording process for “Death Mask Messiah” took place in December 2025 and January 2026 and features the contributions of new members Jerome Reil on drums and Alex Voss on bass, joining long-time Exumer veterans Mem V. Stein, Ray Mensh, and Marc B on guitar. Thematically, the album delves into topics such as misinformation, political discord, manipulation, and the abuse of authority. Additionally, “Death Mask Messiah” includes a notable guest appearance from Nasty Savage vocalist Nasty Ronnie, who joins Exumer on a cover of his band’s song, “Unchained Angel.”
